Library

Wadestown School has libraries at both Weld Street and Rose Street. For many years the Board of Trustees has prioritised the funding of a librarian and an up-to-date, quality library collection.

We aim to develop a love of reading in our students which research has shown to be ‘one of the strongest indicators of positive engagement in school and learning.’ (Growing Independence, NZCER, 2006)

The annual Book Week (usually held in May) is a highlight of the school calendar and features a book fair, competitions, quizzes, visiting authors and fabulous book character dress-up days.

Our Book Bingo reading incentive scheme, which runs throughout the year, has become a successful part of our school literacy programme.
