Wadestown School has libraries at both Weld Street and Rose Street. For many years the Board of Trustees has prioritised the funding of a librarian and an up-to-date, quality library collection.

We aim to develop a love of reading in our students which research has shown to be ‘one of the strongest indicators of positive engagement in school and learning.’ (Growing Independence, NZCER,¬†2006)

The annual Book Week (usually held in May) is a highlight of the school calendar and features a book fair, competitions, quizzes, visiting authors and fabulous book character dress-up days.

Our Book Bingo reading incentive scheme, which runs throughout the year, has become a successful part of our school literacy programme.
