(IT FAQ) eTAP Student Management System
The Student Management System (SMS) that we use is eTAP. This is an Internet-hosted SMS, meaning that we connect to a website on the Internet to use eTAP.
As a consequence of this:
- You can use eTAP from any computer that is connected to the Internet, for example from your home PC, but on the other hand ...
- If the PC you are using isn't connected to the Internet then you can't use eTAP
Logging on to eTAP
These instructions are accurate for accessing eTAP using Internet Explorer from one of the computers at the school. From home or using FireFox things will work a little differently.
- Open http://etap.esd.co.nz/ in Internet Explorer (this link has already been saved for you as a favourite).
- The usual access-to-the-Internet password window labelled 'Connect to 172.31.232.250' may open. Enter your user name and password for Internet access.
- A password window labelled 'Connect to etap.esd.co.nz' will open. Enter the school's user name and password for eTAP. The user name is 'Wadestown' (with a capital 'W'). The password you need to already know! Here's a hint though ... it has eight letters, all in lower case, and refers to what school.
- The eTAP logon page should now load asking for your 'ID Number' and password. You need to know these for yourself already but the ID Number is usually a three digit number.
- You should now see the eTAP start page which has rows of rectangular buttons as its main feature
