(IT FAQ) Connect to a network printer
The school has lots of networked printers. A networked printer is one that you can print to across the school's network from any of the school's PCs. You will see that you already have some of these networked printers, such as the copier, listed among your printers. If you want to use a networked printers that isn't listed then you have to 'connect' to it. Here's how to do that:
- Click 'Start' – 'Printers and Faxes'
- Double-click ‘Add Printer’
- Click ‘Next’
- Select ‘A network printer’
- Select ‘Find a printer in the directory’
- Click ‘Find now’
- Click the desired printer to select it
- Click ‘OK’
- Select ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ according to whether you want the printer to be the default one, then click ‘Next’
- Click ‘Finish’
It’s shouldn't be too hard. If you can’t manage it then ask a friendly colleague to show you how!
