(IT FAQ) File quotas

What are file quotas?

Storage space on the file servers is very expensive so we are introducing a limit on how much each person can have. This is called your file quota. Using Windows Explorer you can see how much space you can potentially use and how much you have free. This can be seen in the next screenshot where Martin's quota is 2GB and he has (only) 190MB still available.

Exceeding your file quota

Systems in place on the file server will prevent you from exceeding your quota. When this happens you will see a message like the one following next.
